Creature Feature is The Pitch’s weekly profile on a local animal looking for adoption. Shelters and support in Kansas City and the surrounding region are often pushed to the breaking point, so picking one future companion to highlight is how we want to put them on your radar. But there are far more than we could ever fit into our pages. Some of the frequent resources and groups we work with—who also have hundreds of other furry friends to flip through—include Great Plains SPCA, Olathe Animal Shelter, The Pet Connection, All Paws & Pals Play and Stay, Pleasant Hill Animal Control, Pawportunities, Wayside Waifs, Midwest Animal Resq, Pawsperity, Wild Souls Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation, Humane Society Pet Food Pantry, KC Action For Animals, and Pet Resource Center of KC. For more resources like these, and for everything that help people with their needs too, check out The Pitch’s Community Resource Guide.

Here’s this week’s Creature Feature:

Blanca is a one-year-old, spayed female, weighing 38.8 lbs.

She was surrendered by an owner who didn’t have time for her and the landlord said she had to go. She’s got a lot of playful puppy soul in her (she springs into the air to pounce on a toy), but she’s super gentle and quiet. She is very gentle when taking treats. Her coat is silky soft and her eyes are a fascinating gold/green color.

She can sit… Not too much more, but she’s eager to please and obviously would like to learn so much more.

Rides well in the car. Doesn’t pull on the leash unless she sees a squirrel. Always happy to see other dogs and will bounce to invite them to play, but doesn’t run at them or bark. She’s such a sweetheart.
