Creature Feature: Meet good old Gloria
Creature Feature is The Pitch’s weekly profile on a local animal looking for adoption. Shelters and support in Kansas City and the surrounding region are often pushed to the breaking point, so picking one future companion to highlight is how we want to put them on your radar. But there are far more than we could ever fit into our pages. Some of the frequent resources and groups we work with—who also have hundreds of other furry friends to flip through—include Great Plains SPCA, Olathe Animal Shelter, The Pet Connection, All Paws & Pals Play and Stay, Pleasant Hill Animal Control, Pawportunities, Wayside Waifs, Midwest Animal Resq, Pawsperity, Wild Souls Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation, Humane Society Pet Food Pantry, KC Action For Animals, and Pet Resource Center of KC. For more resources like these, and for everything that help people with their needs too, check out The Pitch’s Community Resource Guide.
Here’s this week’s Creature Feature:
Rural shelters like Pleasant Hill Animal Shelter often face challenges due to limited support compared to their larger city counterparts. In small towns, adoption and donations aren’t as frequent, leaving many wonderful pets overlooked. Gloria, the sweet dog in the photo, is one of those hidden gems. She’s friendly and loving but has been growing up in the shelter simply because of the lack of visitors. It’s heartbreaking to think she might spend even more time waiting for her forever home. Thankfully, Gloria has been transferred to All Paws & Pals Play and Stay in Shawnee, where she can be more comfortable for the time being.
Please share this post to help find Gloria her perfect family! For more information, reach out to All Paws & Pals at (913) 831-8970 or through their website.
