Creature Feature is The Pitch’s weekly profile on a local animal looking for adoption. Shelters and support in Kansas City and the surrounding region are often pushed to the breaking point, so picking one future companion to highlight is how we want to put them on your radar. But there are far more than we could ever fit into our pages. Some of the frequent resources and groups we work with—who also have hundreds of other furry friends to flip through—include Great Plains SPCA, Olathe Animal Shelter, The Pet Connection, All Paws & Pals Play and Stay, Pleasant Hill Animal Control, Pawportunities, Wayside Waifs, Midwest Animal Resq, Pawsperity, Wild Souls Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation, Humane Society Pet Food Pantry, KC Action For Animals, and Pet Resource Center of KC. For more resources like these, and for everything that help people with their needs too, check out The Pitch’s Community Resource Guide.

Here’s this week’s Creature Feature:

In search of a 100-pound lap dog? Well, big Ed may be the pup for you. Ed is a Great Dane and is an amazing dog, who really doesn’t need a lot of space…well except for on the sofa.

He is currently sheltered at Midwest Animal Resq (MARQ), so feel free to drop by, say hi, and maybe go home with a new family member. Ed may or may not steal your heart in the process—no guarantees.

If you or someone you know is in looking to adopt a pet or other animal, please contact Midwest Animal Resq in Raytown.
