Creature Feature is The Pitch’s weekly profile on a local animal looking for adoption. Shelters and support in Kansas City and the surrounding region are often pushed to the breaking point, so picking one future companion to highlight is how we want to put them on your radar. But there are far more than we could ever fit into our pages. Some of the frequent resources and groups we work with—who also have hundreds of other furry friends to flip through—include Great Plains SPCA, Olathe Animal Shelter, The Pet Connection, All Paws & Pals Play and Stay, Pleasant Hill Animal Control, Pawportunities, Wayside Waifs, Midwest Animal Resq, Pawsperity, Wild Souls Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation, Humane Society Pet Food Pantry, Pawsitive Tails, KC Action For Animals, and Pet Resource Center of KC. For more resources like these, and for everything that help people with their needs too, check out The Pitch’s Community Resource Guide.

Archie came to the Cameron Animal Shelter in June 2024, now making him the shelter’s longest resident. After plenty of thought on how to help Archie find a home… we have decided we would like to put him through a different approach of positive reinforcement training with Owl Creek K9 Training!

This program has been proven to change lives! A generous donation from Scott Poore’s foundations who will be matching our goal of $250 to raise a total of $500 total for training that we believe will save Archie’s life and help find him a forever home!

If you or someone you know is interested in adopting Archie and making him a member of your family, please visit the organizations’ websites.
