Creature Comforts
You wouldn’t know from the number of gigs he has booked lately that drummer Billy Brimblecom is moving to Nashville. The last hurrah of the longtime local musician, before splitting town, will be a reunion show with possibly his best-known act, previously defunct power-pop outfit the Creature Comforts. “We’ve all been having so much fun that we discussed the idea of trying to play a show every year,” Brimblecom reports. That would be awesome, but for now, fans can enjoy a long set spanning unreleased gems and the group’s two hooky albums: The Politics of Pop (1998) and Teaching Little Fingers to Play (2002). Locals better acquainted with singer Chris Tolle’s folkier project the Belles may jump out of their shoes when the high-energy sound hits, while fans of bassist Brian Everard’s Blackpool Lights know exactly what to expect. Let’s pack the place, and maybe Billy will have second thoughts.
