Crane Brewing launches crowd funding as the brewery prepares for an August launch

Construction is under way on Crane Brewing’s Raytown brewery. The equipment should be arriving in mid-May, and brewing of its wild and sour beer should begin in June. And then, well, it’ll be the licensing waiting game. But the Crane crew is targeting August for an official launch.
Before getting there, Crane is asking for a little help from its friends and fans. The brewery has started a crowd-funding campaign through CrowedBrewed with a goal of $40,000. Take a look at the page here for more details, but there are some serious perks.
Among them, if you have an extra $5,000 to give, you can create your own Crane beer. Any style you want, with an 8 percent ABV cap. Barrel aged? Yeah, that’s an option. You get to pick two specialty ingredients, get your name on the label and, hell, you can even help design the label and name the beer.
For $1,000, you can help blend Carne’s first barrel-aged beer. You also get to take home a case of it.
Did you know that Crane has a special “Reserve Club”? Yep. Membership costs $400, and that includes three bottles of each of four limited-release beers in 2016. You also get first right of refusal on re-upping for the following year. This is limited to 200 people.
Of course, there are cheaper options. But those are some serious highlights.
Why does Crane want your help and money? It’s looking to pick up some extra barrels, kegs and testing equipment. Crane also wants to do some one-off merchandise and events. And it’s a way to give back to the brewery’s fans and get them involved, says vice president Chris Meyers.
