Cracked Idol

Some of the best comedians leave audiences chuckling uncomfortably by poking at social or political ironies. After pissing off a lot of people, Lenny Bruce and George Carlin became legendary for their ability to shock and make relevant points while entertaining. Starting in the 1970s, the comedian known only as Gallagher disturbed and amused audiences with a fury unleashed on innocent watermelons, which he slaughtered using his own Sledge-O-Matic device. These days, the venues that book Gallagher still must protect interiors from the edible flying debris that he tends to create toward the end of the night. First, though, he delivers a more figurative puree of observations on homosexuality, international relations and religion. Note: This might not be the show for those who don’t find funny the description of President Obama as a goat-milk latte. All others, head to Stanford’s Comedy Club at the Legends at Village West (1867 Village West Parkway) for shows tonight and Wednesday. Call 913-400-7500 for
