Cosby Hotel: Saved from the wrecking ball (updated)

Update (10:14 a.m. July 21): The campaign to save the crumbling Cosby Hotel at Ninth and Baltimore has worked.
The Star reports that the city has decided to spend $4,000 to stabilize a corner of the building (the city will send the bill to the building’s owner, Rick Powell), which also buys time for preservationists to come up with a plan to restore the building that’s apparently full of asbestos.
