Corpus Chris

It’s not every day that one man’s trash really does become another’s treasure. But for artist Chris Martin, it can happen two days in a row. The abstract painter’s works sometimes includes real items, such as sliced bread, old dog blankets, feathers and legal documents. Find out what Martin is saying with these choices, how his Buddhism influences his work, and how the New York art scene has changed since his first exhibitions there in the late 1980s. His free talk starts at 7 p.m. and is part of the Kansas City Art Institute’s “Current Perspectives” lecture series. It’s in Epperson Auditorium, inside Vanderslice Hall (4415 Warwick ); see kcai.edu for more information.
