Copse and Watchers

From the dawn of humankind, the potent aesthetics of the natural world have served as catalysts for inspired appreciation. This affection comes as varied and complex as nature itself. Some people don magical rings and summon Gaia’s champion, Captain Planet, to fight crime; others strip naked and bay at the moon like wolves. Such is the power of nature.Today, let nature’s inspiration nurture a feasting of films at Burr Oak Woods Conservation Nature Center (1401 Northwest Park Road in Blue Springs). A movie marathon featuring four nature-related films will be shown in the center’s amphitheater, including the computer-animated comedies Open Season and Over the Hedge. The free, all-ages event begins at 9 a.m., with other film screenings at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. For more information, call 816-228-3766 or see mdc.mo.gov/areas/cnc/burroak.
