Comment of the Day: Ex-pro football player George Visger was ‘saddened’ by Nathan Stiles’ death

The story of how Spring Hill football player Nathan Stiles died — from a rebleed of a subdural hematoma suffered during a game — caught the attention of former pro football player George Visger, who’s lived with the results of the violent sport. Visger expressed his sympathy for the Stiles family’s loss:

My prayers go out to Nathan and his family. I played DT for Colorado

76-79, and with the SF 49ers in 80 & 81. I developed hydrocephalus

from repeated concussions and underwent emergency VP Shunt brain

surgery during the 81 Super Bowl season. I am now on emergency VP

shunt # 9, and on anti seizure meds to control my gran mal seizures.

My Orange Bowl and Super Bowl rings are not worth the price my family

has paid dealing with my football injuries.

I pray the Stiles family can find solace in their loss knowing that

many, many of us ex ball players throughout the country are deeply

saddened by their loss and feel their pain.
