Comic, Comic, Comicon-meleon

For most, the final week of March marks the beginning of spring. For fans of comic books and pop culture, the equinox indicates a more important time: convention season. Kick off the annual tradition locally this weekend with Planet Comicon at the Overland Park International Trade Center (6800 West 115 Street). Guests include former TV Hulk Lou Ferrigno; Lost‘s Mira Furlan; former Supergirl and Smallville star Helen Slater; and the current voice of Yoda, local hero Tom Kane. Comics fans can also see creators Jason Aaron (Scalped), Steven Sanders (Sword), Matt Kindt (Super Spy) and many more between browsing the show’s numerous vendors. The show runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and continues Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $15 for adults or $6 for kids ages 7 to 14 (kids 6 and younger get in free). See planetcomicon.com or call 913-345-1069 for more information.
