Comic Book Rec With Parks
In the world of comics, many hats are worn. The often-collaborative medium calls for writers, artists and inkers. For comic-book triple-threat Ande Parks, wearing many hats is a literal and figurative regularity: The fedora enthusiast tends to write, illustrate and ink with a hat atop his noggin. Catch Parks’ discussion of his craft today from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Johnson County Museum of History (6305 Lackman Road in Shawnee). Parks takes attendees through the comics-producing process, from scripting to illustrating. His writing portfolio includes the Kansas-based histories Capote in Kansas and Union Station, and he shares inking credits with Phil Hester on DC Comics’ Green Arrow. The material is appropriate for audiences 14 and over. Admission is $1, and reservations are required; call 913-715-2550. For more information, see jocomuseum.org/events.htm.
