Columbia-based blog Bathysphere releases free compilation of Missouri rock

If someone had mentioned “the bathysphere” to use yesterday, I’d have pictured an atmospheric ring of bathtub scum suspended in high orbit. But apparently, the capital-B Bathysphere is a music blog based out of Columbia, MO. And we’re glad we know about it now, because it’s freakin’ nice. Its got quite a concert reviews archive — many in CoMo, but a few from here, the earliest KC show being Modest Mouse at City Market in 2007. Dangit! Surely I’ve seen this site before and just somehow forgotten. Yes, that’s it — grandpa’s confused.

But I’m not confused that this here puppy is going on my computer. Behold, Bathtime, the Bathysphere’s new compilation of Missouri-only indie rock. Indie bands from here to Columbia to St. Louis have contributed tracks, and all the proceeds go to — wait! There are no proceeds! It’s free! The two KC bands featured are Spidermums (now called High Diving Ponies) and I Love You. Click on the cover art above or here to get your MO-rawk on.

A few of the bands on the comp will be playing the Bathtime Festival on April 11 at Slacker’s in Columbia. It, too, is free. Road trip?
