Clothes Whores: Darryl at Czar Bar

One might be tempted to say that Darryl, spotted here outside Czar Bar one recent evening, looks Kanye-esque in his argyle attire. But Kanye West wears everything that’s trendy. It’d be more accurate to liken Darryl’s style to Andre Benjamin’s, aka Andre 3000 of OutKast, who released his own dandy-inspired clothing line, Benjamin Bixby, in 2008.

I’ve noticed a lot of men around town pulling this off lately — Greg Enemy, anyone? — and I can’t help but notice that some men can take thick-framed glasses and argyle prints to a new level of cool, rather than looking like big nerds. It’s about committing to a look. It’s also all about attitude.

For Darryl, though, trends in fashion have nothing to do with it. “I’ve dressed preppy since I was a child,” he says.
