If you’ve paid attention to the classical music scene over the past two decades, you’ve probably heard of William Bill McGlaughlin. He’s kind of a big deal. McGlaughlin was the music director of the Kansas City Symphony for 12 years before leaving to start his National Public Radio show, Saint Paul Sunday. McGlaughlin returns to Kansas City to celebrate the Bach Aria Soloists’ 10th anniversary with the special show “Inspired By Bach.” As the evening’s host, McGlaughlin talks about the history or the inspiration behind each piece. No, this won’t be a boring lecture on classical music. “He’s really funny, really down to earth,” says BAS member Beth Wayne. “He has a kindly approach to having a discussion about music.” The show begins at 7:30 p.m. at Village Presbyterian Church (6641 Mission in Prairie Village).
