Claire McCaskill has some awesome rich friends, like Steven Spielberg and Don King

Sen. Claire McCaskill has had a busy week. First, she announced and tried to downplay some amendments to FEC filings from 2006. And now she’s trying to sweet-talk members of Congress into going along with the debt deal proposed by the so-called Gang of Six. That should be a piece of cake.

But in far more entertaining McCaskill news, she also released her quarterly fundraising numbers last Friday, and they have some interesting nuggets, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch notes. In the past three months, McCaskill has racked up quite a bit of dough — $1.3 million — for her looming re-election battle. But what’s more impressive than the amount of cash McCaskill brought in is who was cutting her checks. Turns out, Clairebear has some deep-pocketed and famous supporters.
