Claire McCaskill and friends want BP to pay $20 billion (updated)

Update (2:17 p.m. June 16): After a meeting at the White House, BP has agreed to sock away $20 billion in a fund to pay for cleanup costs of the Gulf oil spill, the New York Times reports. Several U.S. senators, including Claire “Bear” McCaskill, suggested the idea to BP’s CEO in a letter sent Monday. It’s good news, although who knows what the cleanup will ultimately cost.
