Cinder Block hits a tripel, Martin City turns two and more beer events for the week of February 4

Tallgrass’ Velvet Rooster is going the way of the dodo, but there’s a new tripel ready to take its place at Cinder Block Brewery: CB003 — a Belgian tripel that’s spicy and fruity but not too sweet (and has a kick at 10.5 percent ABV). Get to Cinder Block (110 East 18th Avenue, North Kansas City) and get a snifter full.

Martin City Brewing Co. (500 East 135th Street) kicks off its anniversary week Monday, February 8, with Mr. Vacation Brandy Barrel–Aged Barleywine on tap. Look for new tappings each day starting at 11 a.m., including Shunned House Brett IPA, Fortune Royale, Dozier, Highwayman with coconut, Highwayman with cherry, Quid Feci, From Belgium with Rum, and Coffee Imperial Stout. In bottles, Mr. Vacation will be for sale in the taproom.
