Chason Pennington, 19, fatally stabbed at Grain Valley bonfire party Saturday

Chason A. Pennington was stabbed to death at a bonfire party in the 29800 block of East AA Highway in Grain Valley around 2 a.m. Saturday.

Pennington, a 19 year old from Lee’s Summit, was partying with friends in a field. He later reportedly wrestled with the man who allegedly stabbed him.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the Jackson County Medical

Examiner’s Office are investigating Pennington’s death as a homicide.

The sheriff’s office reported that the suspect left the scene on foot.

It was later learned that the suspect has three known addresses in Lee’s

Summit, Blue Springs and Kansas City.

Fox 4 reports that a suspect was hiding in a nearby subdivision and surrendered to police about an hour later after being convinced by his father.
