Celebrate Presidents Day with a protest of our president on Monday

This coming Monday, February 20, is Presidents Day, a federal holiday. Many people are not required to attend work that day. If you are one of those people, you might consider attending the Presidents Day Protest, which will be held at the JC Nichols Memorial Fountain between 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. (Even if you have to work, you can still probably make it for the second half.)

According to the event’s Facebook page, over 1,000 people plan to attend. Speakers include UMKC constitutional law professor Edward Cantu and representatives from grassroots groups like Indivisible KC, the Dream Alliance and the Muslim Civic Initiative.

“We are gathering together to hear speakers touch on issues of the ethics violations, personal and governmental attacks, a discriminatory travel ban,the attempt to silence a free and fair press, dismantling health care and the general unacceptable behavior by the current President and his administration,” reads the event description.
