Cat hoarder’s felines can be adopted out or euthanized, judge rules

  • This cat was lucky enough not to be owned by Delores Metcalf.

Sadly, some of the kitties saved from a cat hoarder aren’t going to make it out alive. Almost a month ago, animal-control officers removed 153 cats from a hoarder’s home north of the river. Many of the cats were sickly (and animal-control officers found about 50 dead cats in Delores Metcalf’s freezer).

The cats were taken to the Kansas City, Missouri, Animal Shelter, which has been unable to adopt out the cats due to parasites, respiratory infections and other health issues. But a Clay County judge has paved the way for the adoption process to begin. The judge also gave the shelter permission to euthanize the unhealthy cats.
