Cary Brothers at the Bottleneck
Singer-songwriter Cary Brothers is headlining with Greg Laswell at the Bottleneck on August 2. If you’re like me, you first heard Brothers’ songs on a series of Zach Braff films, like “Blue Eyes” off of 2004’s Garden State soundtrack, or perhaps “Ride” from 2006’s The Last Kiss. (Admittedly, two cringe-worthy movies; two excellent songs). From there, he’s released Who You Are in 2007, and a new album, Under Control, about a month and a half ago. It may not have made the biggest blip on the radar, but his guitar-driven pop — squarely planted between Brothers’ folksy roots and shimmering Brit-pop aspirations — are hard to say no to. Here’s first single, “Ghost Town.”
