Carlos Romious, profane, $3,500-an-hour lawyer, loses license

A Kansas City attorney who charged a soldier $3,500 an hour in a DUI case will no longer be able to practice law in Kansas.

The $13,250 fee that Carlos Romious tried to collect from a member of the Kansas Army National Guard — in a McDonald’s parking lot, at 11:30 p.m. — was not the first instance of odd behavior. Romious once called a municipal court clerk in Shawnee a “fucking bitch” and an another occasion tussled with security guards at the federal courthouse in Kansas City, Kansas. In 2009, he asked a judge if he was pedophile and called him “your holiness.”
