Carl D. Phipps and Joseph Payne, KCMO homicides 20 and 25: Killa City update

Kansas City, Missouri’s homicide count stands at 28 for 2010.

Here are a couple of names that I missed along the way. Carl D. Phipps, 30, was killed at Independence and Ewing around 12:30 a.m. on March 25. His death came five days before his 31st birthday.

Police have not yet released the name of victim No. 23, a black man

described as approximately 20 years old who was found

dead in the backyard of a home in the 2400 block of Chelsea on

April 6. Two black males were seen fleeing the scene in a red minivan

headed

northbound on Chelsea.

Joseph Payne, 40, was assaulted with a stick and struck in the back of the head outside of 3014 Cleveland on March 30. Payne died on April 7. The suspect in his death is unknown.
