Capibara — no, not Capybara — plays at the Riot Room tonight

Capybara has been off Kansas City’s radar for a little bit, even though the band’s members haven’t (especially Darin Seal, who helms Saharan Gazelle Boy). The band came back with news about a new album a month ago and posted a video asking for donations via a Kickstarter account.

Tonight, though, another band named after the gigantic South American rodent takes the stage at the Riot Room. The band is called Capibara, a collection of guys from Georgia playing a heavier, proggier brand of rock and roll that probably wouldn’t appeal to a local listener who ventured out on this snowy evening to catch some light, whimsical indie-pop.
