Cage the Elephant at the Beaumont

It shouldn’t be a suprise, but Kentucky rock band Cage the Elephant rocked harder than I thought it would.
Heading to the Beaumont on Thursday night, I half-expected a watery knockoff of Jack White and the Followill brothers to appear onstage. (Two of the brothers in Cage the Elephant have a Christian, Southern upbringing similar to the Kings of Leons’ backstory, and the band’s “Ain’t No Rest for the Wicked” kicks off with slide guitar that could’ve been ripped straight from the White Stripes’ early catalog). If the Kings of Leon are considered to be the current sexy Southern band, then Cage the Elephant should be branded by its heavy dose of seedy Southern swagger.
