Buy! Buy! Buy!

A little city of white tents and tables and commerce sprang up Friday around the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Westport Road. That evening, from 5 to 9 p.m., was the opening of the 31st Annual Art Westport. Dozens of painters, sculptors, jewelry makers and potters continued to peddle their eye-catching creations from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday. The artists all hail from within a 40-mile radius of Kansas City. But even though they live close, these creative folks would still rather send their works with you than drag them all home. Help lighten the load for some artists on this, the last day of Art Westport. Vendors accept your praise and money from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.— Crystal K. Wiebe
