Buy a ticket to Sunday’s Chiefs game, or else

If the 3-9 Chiefs‘ pretty miserable ranking in the AFC West basement wasn’t enough, now the league is threatening to black out local television broadcast of Sunday’s game against 4-8 Buffalo unless 3,500 more people buy tickets.

It’d be the first time since 1990 that a Chiefs game would be blacked out in Kansas City. That means the team is on the verge of doing something it hasn’t done in almost 20 years. Who says we can’t make records! No matter that it’s for something bad.

Mark Donovan, the Chiefs chief operating officer, didn’t dither about assigning blame: “The possibility of a blackout is caused by the combination of the current economic climate, inclement weather in December, a non-divisional opponent, and our record.”

Oh yeah, and our record. Sounds like the proverbial perfect storm. If the game isn’t broadcast on local television this weekend, Chiefs Nation, it’s on you.
