Brookside Tradition

This first day of May happens to fall on a Friday, so the Crossroads District is obviously going to be jampacked for the monthly art crawl. But the arts district isn’t the only place to take in exhibitions of creativity this weekend. However, it would be a mistake to assume that you’ll avoid crowds if you opt for the 24th Brookside Art Annual instead. With participation from 180 artists, projected attendance is 70,000 for the three-day, outdoor art fair. Folks will start streaming in today between 5 and 9 p.m. to browse the artist booths set up in and around tents at 63rd Street and Brookside, located between Main and Wornall. The fair is open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. For more information on this free event, see brooksidekc.org/art-fair.html.
