Bring It Back

For those of you who think you’re listening to techno while you snuggle up with the latest edition of Tiesto’s In Search of Sunrise series, Cicada Rhythm urges you to bust out of the bedroom and dance your pants off to some banging acid techno. For Bring it Back at the Liquid Bar and Nightclub in Lawrence on Saturday, Cicada brings headliner Rowland the Bastard from the United Kingdom. Acid techno is characterized by a thunderous, repetitive beat (even for electronic music), and a Roland 303 is the weapon of choice. Imagine your house shaking 150 times in one minute, and you get the picture. Some say that techno died out in these parts along with raves, while house music has made a successful transition to area clubs. But here’s to bringing back the five-dollar rave, with plenty of techno in the flesh.
