Brick begins BYOB night.

As in “Book Your Own Band.”
Brick owner Sheri Parr is replacing the bar’s longstanding Wednesday night Anything Goes Open-Mic with what she describes as “a solid live-music format.” Bands and solo artists can claim slots each Wednesday from 8 p.m. to midnight, starting next week. “It gives an opportunity for new bands to have stage time or songwriters to try new works,” Parr says via e-mail.
The BYOB series begins next Wednesday, March 25, with performances by Andrew Ashby (the String and Return), Bill Sundal (ex-It’s Over), John Keck and David Regnier (the Afterparty, Dead Voices). Beyond that, the April 1 BYOB night includes the Cosmic Tody Brothers and Joshua Ladd. On April 8, look for (of) Tree, Terrence Moore of American Catastrophe, and Konnor Ervin of the ACB’s. Call 816-421-1634 to find out how you can book your own band one of these coming hump days.
Noto Bene, Y’all, and Speaking of the ACB’s: Brick BYOB isn’t taking place tonight. Instead, Konnor and all his ACB’s are playing there tonight with the excellent new local band Cowboy Indian Bear and Mighty Fairly, from Minneapolis. Should be a cool show. Buy the ACB’s a round of PBR’s and wish them Godspeed to SXSW’s.
