Brian Nieves’ ravings form the basis of ethics complaint, lawsuit

The questionable behavior of Missouri state Sen. Brian Nieves (R-the Fightin’ 26th) is now the subject of an ethics complaint and a civil lawsuit.

A political operative who complained to police that Nieves threw him up against a wall, head-butted him and threatened his life last year has filed a lawsuit in Franklin County. Shawn Bell accuses Nieves of false imprisonment, assault and inflicting emotional distress. Bell’s suit comes on the heels of an ethics complaint that three teachers have lodged after a confrontational visit with Nieves at the state Capitol in May.
