Brian Euston death: Did Stanford Griswold punch Euston in self-defense?

  • Stanford Griswold punched Brian Euston, but was it in self-defense?

The involuntary manslaughter trial for the man accused of punching and killing Brian Euston outside a Westport bar last October is scheduled to wrap up today, KSHB Channel 41 reported.

The case has come down to whether Stanford Griswold punched the 24-year-old Euston in self-defense. Prosecutors reportedly described Euston as a “happy drunk.” (Euston’s blood alcohol level was .387, more than four times the legal limit to drive.)

Euston tried to talk to Griswold and his girlfriend around closing time on October 10. Neither Griswold nor his girlfriend were interested in talking to Euston. Griswold’s defense attorney, Molly Hastings, told jurors that Euston got into Griswold’s face and said, “What’s wrong with you? Why do you look so mean?”
