Brandon Wright, 18, dies in drive-by shooting Friday night; 57 homicides in KCMO in 2011

UPDATE (July 20): Brandon Wright, 18, has been identified as the homicide victim in Friday night’s drive-by shooting at 26th and Euclid. Witnesses saw someone in a gold Chevy Blazer shoot Wright. The Star reported that Wright’s friend, who was also injured in the shooting, isn’t cooperating with the investigation.

Wright is Kansas City, Missouri’s 57th homicide victim of 2011. As of July 19, the total number of homicides at this time is down from the last three years (61 at this time last year, 64 in 2009 and 59 in 2008).
