Hey, kids! Ya’ll listen close. Forty years from now, when you’re suing the local casinos and learning what “alimony” means, ya ain’t gonna look back fondly on those spring breaks spent shooting vodka up your nose with a rolled-up McDonald’s gift certificate. Things might work out better if you spend your spring breaks at the real party cove: the library. All week, the Lawrence Public Library (707 Vermont, 785-843-3833) has been throwing down wicked awesome functions for teens ages 11 to 18. “We don’t fudge on the age limits too much,” says Joyce Steiner of the library’s youth services department. “If we open it up to adults, the teens just leave.” This afternoon, the library winds down its wild week with some belly dancers gone wild (or mild) and an Indian-culture celebration. The Maya Zahira School of Belly Dance performs at 2 p.m., followed by a screening of the Bollywood classic Bride and Prejudice at 3 p.m. Oh, yeah — that hangover? It’s called life.
