Boulevard and Ommegang’s Collaboration No. 4 out next week; Oatmeal Stout and Mid-Coast IPA out this week in sampler 12-packs

Boulevard has been in a collaborative spirit this year, and that continues with the release of Collaboration No. 4, a spiced saison developed by the Kansas City brewery and its sister, Brewery Ommegang.
Collaboration No. 4 hits in Kansas City starting September 22 on draught and September 23 in 750 milliliter bottles. The rest of the country will get it later this month.
How did this collaboration come together? Ommegang brewmaster Phil Leinhart came to KC in July to work with Boulevard brewmaster Steven Pauwels and the rest of the KC crew. Following the brewing process, the wort was moved into two fermentation vessels. In one, the main Boulevard Belgian yeast strain was added. Ommegang’s house yeast strain was added to the other.
The batches were then blended together during the filtration process. Added to the malts and hops were sweet orange peel, lemon peel, coriander, and grains of paradise.
Earlier this month, Boulevard released Za’Tart, a collaboration with Cambridge brewmaster Will Meyers. And earlier this year, Boulevard announced a collaboration with Odell Brewing to be released in November to coincide with both breweries’ 25th anniversaries.
Also, Boulevard will be releasing its latest Tasting Room beers — Oatmeal Stout (a first for the brewery) and Mid-Coast IPA — in its sampler 12-packs this week.
Here’s Boulevard ambassador brewer Jeremy Danner giving the lowdown on Oatmeal Stout followed by a Mid-Coast IPA video.
