Boob Movie

Let’s be honest: Most of us are obsessed with breasts. Trends in size preference have changed over time, yet the fact remains that few women are happy with what Mother Nature has provided. Scientists call this the “feel minus ideal discrepancy,” a term that refers to the difference between how we see our bodies and how we’d like them to be. The presence of this discrepancy is associated with negative body image, which is in turn linked to low self-esteem, high levels of self-consciousness and social anxiety and an above-average preoccupation with how others see us. Filmmakers Stacey Tolbert and Annie Walsh address these issues at a screening tonight of their documentary, gotBREAST? The show begins at 8 p.m. at the YWCA’s Black Box Theatre (1017 North Sixth Street in Kansas City, Kansas). The free event is part of the Follow the Dotte Art Walk. Tolbert and Walsh will answer questions after the film. Call 913-371-1105.
