Boo and Boo Too

Boo and Boo Too isn’t scared. Whereas most bands stabilize their lineups and approach before playing live and recording, the recently formed Boo (the name lies somewhere between clever and annoying) lost two of its members before recording an EP and heading out on the road for the first time. This month, the group takes on the Midwest and Texas and also snags a date with Magnolia Electric Co. Its psych-pop shouldn’t disappoint — since the departure of original singer Patty Morrissey, the band sounds less influenced by Mates of State and has started to come into its own with playful, ambient guitars and the wit of new frontman Barret Emke. Can’t wait to see what other obstacles the band will hurdle in 2006.
