Board the Dane Train

Love him or hate him (or hate to love him, love to hate him), Dane Cook has done more than serve as a comedy gateway drug to kids who otherwise wouldn’t have cared about over-exaggerated observations. To wit: 2005’s Retaliation went platinum and had the highest Billboard chart debut of any comedy CD in three decades. DaneCook.com has set the standard for success among comedian Web sites; his MySpace page was the first to register 2 million friends. He’s on the verge of breaking into The Guinness Book of World Records for audience attendance numbers. Sure, his movies suck, but remember Richard Pryor’s The Toy? Super Fingers will fly when Cook’s 25-city Rough Around the Edges tour brings him to the Sprint Center (1407 Grand) tonight at 7. Tickets cost $30 to $100; call 816-949-7100 for information.
