Board changes accompany radio show’s exit from Mutual Musicians Foundation

Three members of the Mutual Musicians Foundation’s board resigned last week. One of the departed, Bobby Watson, cited in his resignation letter the inability of the foundation and Theater League to reach a new contract on the production of the 12 O’Clock Jump show.

A jazz-and-blues version of A Prairie Home Companion, 12 O’Clock Jump has originated from the foundation since 2009. Theater League offers the show to public-radio stations. KCUR 89.3 is the only taker.

The foundation underwent a thorough leadership change last December. One of the new board’s first order of business was to re-evaluate the terms that allowed Theater League to stage 12 O’Clock Jump, which is broadcast live at midnight on Saturday, before the famous late-night jam session begins.
