Blue Springs man shoots deputy in the head; deputy survives and man gets to live too

Helmets offer far more than just a fashionable way to tell people about your interests.

There’s a man in Blue Springs who needs to buy a lottery ticket right now, because he’s on one hell of a lucky streak. Not only did he shoot a cop without anyone getting hurt, including himself, but he might not even be charged for it.

The man, whose name has yet to be released, fired six shots at officers when Blue Springs police and Jackson County Deputies raided the house he was in the 600 block of Northwest Valleybrook Road. One of the shots hit a deputy in the head, but his helmet saved him. The deputy wasn’t even seriously injured, and amazingly, none of the officers returned fire.
