Blue Meanies turn down reunion offer

In a weekend post to their MySpace page, Chicago’s Blue Meanies revealed that they were made an offer to play a reunion show at this year’s SXSW. The band last performed at the 2006 edition of Riot Fest.

So someone made a tentative offer to us to play a show, in a city that shall remain nameless, but starts with A and ends with ustin, and at a specific time of the year when there are lots of people playing more shows (than usual) in this city.

But alas, it seems like we don’t have a solid majority of members who really want to play any more, so it’s not going to happen.

It’s a damned shame. The Meanies always got lumped in with the third-wave ska stuff, whereas they were far more akin to acts like Mr. Bungle and Flipper in terms of genre-defying weirdness. I think it’s fairly telling that former bassist Jay Vance went on to form Captured! By Robots.
