Blair Lane homicide: Aaron Sullivan charged with involuntary manslaughter in the Fourth of July killing

UPDATE (July 14): Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker charged Aaron Sullivan with involuntary manslaughter and armed criminal action in the shooting death of 11-year-old Blair Lane. Baker said during a press conference that the gun used in the shooting belongs to Sullivan. No charges have been filed against the other three men who fired the gun.

Baker also advocated for Blair’s Law, which will make firing a gun within city limits a felony. Missouri state Rep. Mike Talboy is sponsoring the legislation.

Original Story (July 12): Kansas City police believe they’ve found the gun that fired the fatal shot that struck 11-year-old Blair

Shanahan Lane on the Fourth of July. KCTV5 reported that police also have developed four suspects, who admitted taking turns firing the gun at the Whispering Lakes Apartment complex in celebration of the Fourth. The news gets even sadder and more senseless: One of the suspects is a

security guard at the apartment complex.
