Black churches ready for another month of fighting HIV

We know church can be an incredibly, amazingly, dull experience. But if you sometimes lament a lack of spirituality in your life, we’d like to recommend this year’s “Taking It to the Pews” (TIPS) Revival services, where you’ll hear preaching as passionate as anything you’re likely to come across. We promise, the spirit will move you.
Every year, churches involved in the revival dedicate the month of February to preaching on HIV/AIDS awareness and dealing with infection in the black community. Starting in February, every Wednesday night through March 3 will feature a different metro church hosting a special sermon related to HIV/AIDS.
The first — 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 3 — will be held at Ebenezer African Methodist Episcopal Church, 3808 Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard. The month ends with the Black Church Week of Prayer for the Healing of AIDS, in the first week of March.
