BK Your Way

Next week, Ben Kweller will play every song from his three solo albums, in order, over the course of three consecutive concerts in Los Angeles. The first night is devoted to his full-length 2002 solo debut; the next night, it’s 2004’s On My Way; the series ends with Kweller’s 2006 self-titled release. Tonight, the crowd at the Bottleneck (737 New Hampshire in Lawrence, 785-841-5483) will have to be satisfied by a more traditional performance by the little anti-folk hero. For this one-night engagement, Kweller will most likely play a sampling of his canon, which actually goes back a lot further than 2002. His high school band, Radish, was much-hyped in the post-Nirvana era. But it’s the sweet, melodic charmers laced with oohs and sha-shas, composed by Kweller alone, that caught the attention of Lemonhead Evan Dando, Dave Matthews’ ATO Records and, eventually, scads of indie-rock kids.
