Bikers Ball
The first Bikers Ball is a veritable who’s who of ’80s hairspray mainstays. The bill includes reunited me-decade phenomenon Twisted Sister alongside Quiet Riot vocalist Kevin DuBrow, whose recent all-covers album isn’t nearly as embarrassing as it should be. But perhaps the most intriguing act is the newly retooled Warrant. The band trawled the club circuit for years trying to recapture the “Cherry Pie” glory days of its youth before frontman Janie Lane shaved his trademark blond mane into a mohawk and started telling anyone who’d listen that Warrant was really a punk band at heart. He then began canning members like cling peaches until the band mutinied and replaced Lane with Black ‘N Blue’s Jamie St. James. Whether the new Warrant can best the old Warrant — or whether anybody cares — is up to Kansas City bikers to decide.
