Big Rip Brewing Co. throwing a beer fest May 17 to celebrate first birthday

Big Rip Brewing Co. is undergoing some big changes, including installing a four-barrel brewing system and adding a beer garden to its North Kansas City operation (216 East Ninth Avenue). The upgrades come less than a year after opening for business.

To celebrate Big Rip’s first birthday – and the changes – Big Rip founders Josh Collins and Kipp Feldt are throwing a brew fest on May 17 from 1 to 5 p.m. They’re promising regional breweries, local wine and liquor, tasting glasses, live music and a few other vendors. Also, El Burrito Loco will be selling food.

Tickets are limited, though; Collins says they won’t oversell the event, selling 200 tickets to keep lines short and the vibe relaxed. Tickets cost $25 for “mug club members” and $35 for everyone else. Purchase tickets here (and your name will be added to a list at the entrance; there are no physical tickets).
