Big & Rich

Bear no ill will toward Big & Rich regarding its song-title coinage of the pop-culture proverb “Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy).” Aside from the overuse of the phrase, the song is actually a catchy little listen by a couple of guys clearly having a good time holding nothing sacred — save maybe their country-music roots. Rather, blame those running the line into the ground not just by repeating it ad nauseam but by buying T-shirts, bumper stickers, unironic trucker hats and more, all emblazoned with the legend. Please stop. It works only when Big and/or Rich says it within the context of the song. If this means you have to come up with a new pickup line, so be it. This plea goes double for anyone who insists on regularly dropping “git-r-done” into conversation. Enough.
