Big 12 close to a more than $60 million deal with Fox and possibly a league channel

The Big 12 is close to a $60 million a year long-term cable deal with Fox, according to Sports Business Journal Daily. On top of that, Fox is talking with the eight schools not named Texas or Oklahoma (Texas is starting its own channel, and OU is likely following suit) about joining forces for a Big 12 channel (although that may not be the name) that would broadcast “a handful of football games, up to 60 basketball games and Olympic

sports.”

The deals are reportedly separate, with the priority being the cable deal. What’s this mean for you? Your school is going to get a bigger piece of the pie (but not Texas money).
